After Burberry’s stint in the identity dilemma, they have safely come out and been out of the chav style for more than a few years now. However they never stop in what it takes to be the best and their most recent obsession with their recent model Cara Delevingne, has sent her sailing into the Top Model status. She has become the front woman for so many fashion campaigns and catwalks and she is increasingly becoming more and more of a celebrity and a one to watch. From this she is really everywhere!
Making multiple on going appearances at Burberry, headlining catwalk shows and advertising campaigns. Yet she seems to be cropping up everywhere we look; Cover of i-D magazine with a creepy spider crawling across her eye, sitting front row at fashion shows, modelling on Victoria Secret catwalks, being snapped by the paparazzi for hanging out with Rihanna, Snapped on the carpet at the British Fashion Awards 2012 and many, many, MANY more!
Her next venture sees her being the face for a Chanel 2013 campaign. Modelling with many soft yet distinguishing colours, making the collection edgy but in no way losing the classic Chanel touch. The collections shapes are strongly structured, giving Delevingne abstract curves. Using mostly traditional Chanel fabrics; tweed, silks and cottons. There are playful ruffles that have given all items an essence of floral soul. There is a large element to oversize to the collection, inkeeping with the Chanel ethos of practical clothing, for example the extreme flared trousers. Finally topped off with flatform sneakers and the occasional heel for the ultra-chic outfits. This will give Chanel it’s younger audience more to go on, as yes, absolutely everyone idolises Chanel and wishes to wear it one day, sometimes the collections can be more aimed to a 25 + age group.
Delevingne was always going to be one of the high rollers in the fashion world after her first modelling appearance in Italian Vogue and mere age of eight. She always seems to persuade consumers that bit more to make purchases from ASOS as she is a regular model for the brand. Basically what is she not doing should be the question.
As she has been put into the public eye more and more giving her a following as consumers have started learn more about her and her quirky private life, seeing how endearingly weird she actually is. Delevingne has been seen out many a times with Rihanna, Azelia Banks and sometimes with Pixie Geldof. So once the hype of Cara Delevingne was established and consumers were able to put a personality to the new found ‘celebrity’ (Cara Delevinge) they become more accessible and more ‘life like’.
